Stories of the Gifted

InspireNewsSecondary School

The Victorian Association for Gifted and Talented Children (VAGTC) is a state not-for-profit organization that advocates for gifted and talented children and their families. In October of this year, two of our Year 8 students, Andee and Joshua, were invited to speak at the annual VAGTC event, 'Stories of the Gifted', which is dedicated to giving students of high ability voice in helping teachers, parents and other interested stakeholders insight into their experiences, joys and challenges as individuals of high ability. Andee and Joshua represented themselves and our College extremely proudly, speaking articulately and passionately, both on the student interview panel and as part of the 'Human Library', about their reflections on themselves as learners and as individuals on the talent development journey. Both Joshua and Andee reflected on their faith and how Northside Christian College helps them to grow as learners and also as followers of Jesus. Of particular interest to those in the audience was the helpful advice they provided: Please give us challenge and support us to grow because we love to learn and we need to be challenged in order to develop the skills essential to living out our God-given purpose.
